A Dreamy Kurama Evening

To rest your weary bones after a day of hiking the mountain, consider an evening’s pampering under the twinkling stars of the mountain’s dark night sky. A soak in Kurama Onsen’s healing thermal waters, shrouded in steam from the relaxing hot pools, will do wonders for sagging spirits and mutinous muscles. The pools for men and women are divided by a bamboo fence. This onsen allows guests with tattoos, unlike many in Japan.

Those desiring this inexpensive excursion will pay for it themselves, and return to the hotel on their own schedule using the train from Kurama station to the center of Kyoto. The Onsen offers a free shuttle van to the nearby Kurama train station at frequent intervals, and Yoshie will be glad to provide travel instructions if you ask her during the day.
